Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is the process that occurs in plants and some algae in order to produce their own food. Since plants and algae are producers, they cannot obtain energy from consuming other living organisms, it is essential for them to produce their own food through photosynthesis. Chloroplasts, an organelle that is only found in plant cells, are responsible for this process.
Chloroplasts, an organelle in plant cells, contain chlorophyll, a kind of green pigment that involved in photosynthesis.
wORD EQUATION OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Plants absorb carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and water from the soil, then chlorophyll in chloroplast converts light energy to chemical energy and storing it in the bonds of sugar as well as releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere.
photosynthesis and us
Photosynthesis is essential to the biosphere on earth. Plants are the producer and they are the first organisms in a food web or food chain. Plants obtain light energy from the sun and convert it into energy they need to survive; primary consumer then consume plants to obtain the energy they need to survive. Without the process of photosynthesis, plants are not able to get the energy they need and they will eventually extinct. Living organisms that follow after plants, which is basically all the living things, will then lose their energy source and cannot survive unless they could find another energy source. On the other hand, plants are an important element in the carbon cycle. If there is no photosynthesis and all the plants die, the carbon on Earth will not be able to be recycled as efficient as before. Then the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere on Earth will end up rising to a level which we cannot survive.
